Meeting Adie
It was pretty evident to both of us that this was serious. Casey knew meeting Julie’s daughter, Adie, was important and they needed to get it right. He had heard all about their love of Harry Potter and Adie’s obsession with Legos and decided the only right move was to have a Lego set to give her when they met. (cue melting from Julie again)
Their first time meeting, the banter between us all was effortless and things went smoothly. In typical teenager fashion, Adie was quick to argue with her mother a few times and Casey quickly put an end to that by saying, “You’re mother is hot. Are you going to argue with me about that?” She knew she was bested and the rest is history as they say.
We tested the waters pretty quickly by challenging Casey to a game of Harry Potter Clue. Between Casey’s unrelenting urge to win at everything and Julie and Adie’s competitive nature, this was either going to be a recipe for disaster or a blast. Luckily, it was a blast!
Also… did I mention that Adie casually talked about wanting to know how to pick locks and Casey got RATHER excited. He went off to the office, dug through some boxes and found his lock picking equipment. He had all kinds of picks, practice locks and fun gadgets. Adie was definitely looking at him with stars in her eyes for a bit after that.
Casey here with my perspective. I knew that I wanted Julie to be able to spend time with me, and that naturally meant that Adie was going to come along. Having a 3 bedroom place meant that Adie would get her own room. I felt it was something she needed so that she didn’t feel unwanted. (She is very wanted by both of us, by the way.) So it was off to set up her room! Adie picked out the bedframe and we got a nice, comfy mattress. These were the first steps to turning this place from a house to a home.
