Our first date

From Casey’s perspective:

After messaging on the app for a while, then texting, we decided to go on a date. The next day, Thursday, I couldn’t wait to actually see/meet Julie, so I sent her a text saying, in short: say the word and I’ll come by tonight. She said ok, see you tonight.

After work and an hour drive from Tyler to Carthage, I picked her up at her place at about 4. She had packed a picnic dinner and we were going to listen to the high school baseball postseason game on the radio in my truck.

When she came out of the house and I saw her for the first time the only thought I had was, “OMG she’s gorgeous.” We started with ice cream, a casual stroll along some trails and then it was time for the game. Dinner and the game seemed to pass in the blink of an eye. The night ended with us sitting on the tailgate of my truck snuggled up and not wanting the night to end.

After dropping her off at her house, and a goodnight kiss or three, I made the trip back to Tyler. We talked the whole time and again the time just flew by. Before I knew it I was home and it was time to say goodnight, but not before making plans to see each other again VERY soon. If you hadn’t guessed, I was smitten with Julie. We spent hours talking and I feel like I found my person, the one that I am supposed to be with.

From Julie’s perspective:

Messaging with Casey came so naturally that I wasn’t super sure he was real. We had a great phone call with lots of laughter and silliness that put me at ease. I might have cut it off a little sooner than Casey might have liked, but I didn’t want to jinx myself; I had managed to not be too awkward and didn’t want to risk it.

That next day, we picked back up talking so easily. Our banter was undeniable and so much fun. I was really looking forward to getting to meet him that weekend, but then he surprised me with wanting to meet me that day! I knew that message took guts and I completely melted. Of course I’d see him whenever he wanted.

I agonized most of the day trying to figure out something fun to do in our little town. There weren’t just a ton of options, but I figured I’d keep it simple. We needed to spend time together to see if our chemistry carried over into real life. So ice cream, a walk around the trails and picnic dinner over a baseball game it was.

After work, I ran over to the grocery store to pick up a few things and packed a simple little picnic. I had just finished up and figured I’d have a bit to wait until he would get there, but he called and said, “I’m on the square! Where are we meeting?”. I melted again that he seemed just as excited as I felt.

We spent hours together that night talking, laughing and getting to know each other. I know we were together for quite a while, but it went by in a flash. It was very obvious to me that Casey was different and this could be the start of something really special. After the third or fourth goodbye kiss, I asked him, “You feel this too, right? It’s not just me?” He hugged me closer and said, “I definitely feel it too.” (*Cue melting again….)
